Question:
If someone has an allergy to Betadine and is having cataract surgery, what is the recommended alternative?

Answer:
There are several products that are often substituted for Betadine in a situation like yours. Each hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) has its preferred list of Betadine alternatives. Since I am not familiar with the protocol of the Hospital/ASC that you will be using, I am unable to be more specific. I suggest you call your ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.) and discuss this concern with him/her.
