Question:
I have had a small ring similar to a smoke ring that floats in various locations in my right eye. I thought floaters were black spots floating in the vision. Is this also a floater?

Answer:
Yes, and it probably is the shadow of a "Weiss ring," which is a tiny piece of tissue on the back surface of the vitreous gel, which has separated from your optic nerve. You have probably had a "vitreous detachment." If your symptoms are quite new, you should have a thorough evaluation of your retina by an ophthalmologist quite soon.
