Question:
Is ripping of the muscle during a strabismus surgery normal?
Answer:
That is a very unusual complication during strabismus surgery. It may be associated with previous surgery on the eye muscle as well as from eye muscle damage from thyroid eye disease and other orbital inflammatory conditions as well as metastatic cancer.
