Question:
I just had cataract surgery and when I went outside at night I saw streams or long streaks of light across the outdoor lights everywhere I looked. Can it be corrected? Will it go away over time?

Answer:
Our pupils dilate in dim light, and this can cause or increase optical aberrations such as you describe, especially following cataract surgery. Still, there are potential genuine issues associated with the symptoms. You should see your ophthalmologist and have him or her confirm that the intraocular lens is ideally centered and that your eye is in good condition.
