Ask an Eye M.D. Answer Archive
Question:
I took a direct shot in the eye with a tennis ball. It was a hard hit from the other player. I was wearing glasses, which are undamaged, but the next day my eye still aches (on a scale of 1-10 I give it a 2). It feels like a bruise. There is no redness and no vision loss. Should I be concerned?
Answer:
If the eye has pain, it is safest to see a comprehensive ophthalmologist to rule out both internal injury and damage to the eye socket, both of which are common in this situation.
