Question:
What causes objects to appear to become smaller and move away from you? This usually happens just at bedtime.
Answer:
"Alice in Wonderland syndrome" is the perception of things appearing smaller and should be investigated by a neurologist to determine if pathological. It is also possible one may be experiencing hypnagogic hallucinations, which are visual, tactile, auditory, or other sensory events that occur in the transition from wakefulness to sleep, but this is less clear.
