I had an eye exam last month and everything was normal. No changes in vision from a year ago even though I am diabetic. I also use a CPAP machine at night. Yesterday, I noticed that as I looked at things, I saw a quick glimpse of stars. When I tried to focus on them, they disappeared. I also noticed them this morning. I do suffer from dry eyes. Is this seeing stars a sign of something that I need to be concerned about?
Seeing stars or lights is called photopsia. Although many photopsias are harmless, some can be a sign of problems such as retinal tears or retinal detachment. You should return to your ophthalmologist for another exam.
