Is frequency specific microcurrent a recommended form of treatment for dry macular degeneration?
Frequency specific microcurrent (using electronic devices that deliver specific frequencies and currents) is not a recommended treatment for any retinal or ocular disease, including dry macular degeneration. It is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any eye disease, and there are no peer-reviewed studies on this treatment for any eye disease. It is not covered by Medicare or any other national payer.
