Question:
I have herpes keratitis. I have been taking Valcyclover 500 mg once a day for one year. My friend was just diagnosed with shingles on her arm. Will this compromise my condition? I also have a weak immune system.

Answer:
Herpes keratitis is usually due to Herpes Simplex Type 1. Shingles is due to the chicken pox virus known as Varicella zoster. If you are not immune to chicken pox then you can contact chicken pox from someone who has an active rash from shingles. This is unrelated to your keratitis.
