Ask an Eye M.D. Answer Archive
Question:
I have a red, slightly itchy rash around the skin of my eyelids—is this a possible allergic reaction?
Answer:
Yes, it is a possible allergic reaction and that is the most likely diagnosis. However, other things can cause this: for example, certain infections or other types of skin diseases like rosacea. If it persists for more than a couple of days or is associated with considerable swelling and/or pain then this may be something more serious and you should see your Eye M.D. right away.
