Ask an Eye M.D. Answer Archive
Question:
I think I may have an eye infection caused by wearing my contacts. I was fine last night but woke up early this morning with a pain in my eye and severe redness in my cornea. Is there an OTC medicine I can use to treat this or should I see an Eye M.D.?
Answer:
Redness of an eye, with or without pain, should be considered seriously and I would suggest you NOT treat yourself with over the counter medications and that you consult your ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.) about this condition as soon as possible.
