Question:
I had my left eye removed last month due to a large choroidal melanoma. Why can’t I open my eyelid over the conformer?
Answer:
The conformer does not have the same volume and anterior projection as your eye. As a result the eyelid "slips" down over the conformer. Once you have an ocular prosthetic custom made to your eye, the eyelid will sit in a more normal position.
