Question:
What is the success rate for cataract surgery?
Answer:
The success of cataract surgery today is very high. I encourage patients who are nervous about the surgery to ask at least 3 other people who have undergone the surgery to hear firsthand how simple it was for them. Feel free to ask your surgeon what his or her complication rate is and how many surgeries they have performed. Remember, it still is surgery and risks do exist that are out of the control of the surgeon, but overall, it is a highly successful surgery.
