Question:
I have had cataract surgery in my left eye and then a retinal detachment. Can it be possible it will happen in the other eye after cataract surgery?
Answer:
Yes, it is possible, and if your first surgery was uncomplicated, the odds of retinal detachment (RD) are slightly higher. Still, in absolute terms, the odds are low. The most important things are to have a good retinal exam before cataract surgery and be aware of important symptoms.
