Question:
My husband had cataract surgery over a year ago and still continues to have problems with halos as well as sensitivity to light. He cannot read like he used to as everything seems to blend together after about 10 minutes. He had the YAG procedure but that didn't help either. Is there any treatment for this?
Answer:
This really depends on why he has halos and light sensitivity. Is there inflammation or does his pupil dilate larger than the lens optic—these both can be treated. As far as "blending" together while reading—this is a classic sign of dry eye and/or blepharitis. Please have him evaluated by his ophthalmologist for both of these as treatment will greatly improve his reading vision.
