Question:
I had trabeculectomies in 2001 and 2005 to treat glaucoma. The blebs are in great shape. I’m considering cataract surgery—is there a risk that the surgery will disturb the blebs?

Answer:
Unfortunately, there is a risk that cataract surgery can disturb your filtering bleb and its function in controlling your glaucoma. This is a very important question and I feel that it would be better for you to discuss the exact risk with your ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.).
