Question:
My husband was told the vein in his retina is blocked. He has severely decreased vision. He was told it would get better but it hasn't. Are there any treatments? He is already legally blind in his other eye.  

Answer:
There are several potential treatments today for retinal vein occlusions, including intravitreal injections of steroid medicines, anti-VEGF medicines, longer lasting implants and some types of laser surgery. These treatments can help reduce the swelling in the center part of the retina and can many times help regain some visual acuity.
