Question:
Does alcohol affect eye pressures?
Answer:
Yes, alcohol consumption can lower eye pressure. It is important to let your ophthalmologist know if you’ve consumed alcohol before an office visit. It will affect your readings.
It is also important to note that relying simply upon alcohol consumption for glaucoma management is not recommended. Please visit with an ophthalmologist for the evaluation of any eye pressure related issues.
