Dr. Eduardo C. Alfonso

Eduardo C. Alfonso, MD, professor and chairman of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, is a cornea specialist whose work on ocular infectious diseases is known internationally. He earned a bachelor of science from Yale College (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he would later return to join the faculty. He completed three fellowships at Harvard University School of Medicine: a corneal and external disease fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, an ophthalmic pathology fellowship at the David G. Cogan Eye Pathology Laboratory, and a research fellowship at the Howe Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
